St. Maarten
The island of Saint Martin
is shared with France; its southern portion is named Sint
Maarten and is part of the Netherlands Antilles; its northern
portion is called Saint-Martin and is part of Guadeloupe.
Part of the former Dutch East
and West India Companies worldwide empire of trade, it's primary
income is from tourism, the currency is the Euro.
A population of 218,126 occupy
960 sq km.
The trade winds free the island from oppressive
heat and its temperate climate is usually graced by the sun
at 12° 45'N, 5° 45' 68º 45'W.
The land is generally hilly, volcanic interiors with sugar
white beaches and excellent underwater life.
