PEARS IN MAPLE SYRUP

6 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and halved
8 cardamom seeds (crushed)
2 stick of cinnamon (crushed)
1 tbsp sugar
1/3 c maple syrup
1 c sweet white wine

Preheat the oven to 350 F
Heat the ingredients (except the pears) in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Place the pears in a baking dish and pour the heated mixture over them and coating them well. Bake the dish in a Bain Marie for about 1 hour, turning the pears occasionally.
Remove the baked pears to serving plates and strain the debris from the syrup. Use the syrup to drizzle over the pears. Nice served with vanilla ice cream.
